- VICTIMS OF KHOJALY TRAGEDY COMMEMORATED (AzerTAc)
[27.02.2003] Press conference on the occasion of the 11th anniversary
of Khojhaly genocide was held at the Embassy of Azerbaijan to
Pakistan on February 25.
The event was attended by representatives of numerous Pakistani
media organs. Opening the conference, Ambassador Eynulla Madatly
spoke of the atrocities, committed by Armenians towards Azerbaijanis
along the history up to date, about thousands of Azerbaijanis
deported from their native lands. He also stressed that Armenia
ignores the UN Security Council's resolutions on liberation of
the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. Ambassador has also
reminded of 1992 tragedy, when the Armenian Armed Forces subjected
to unprecedented tortures over 613 innocent peoples of Khojhaly,
including children, women, and the old, taking hundreds of people
hostages, who are missing up to day.
On 26 February, all the Pakistani newspapers and TV channels covered
the
conference held at the Embassy.
The 11th anniversary of Khojhaly genocide was also marked in Turkey,
France, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Sweden,
Netherlands and other world countries.
- HUMANITARIAN AID FROM IRAN (AzerTAc)
[05.02.2003] The humanitarian aid to the amount of US $ 800 000
has been delivered to Azerbaijan from Islamic Republic of Iran
by the “Imdad” Committee after Imam Homeyni. According
to the press0service of Iranian Embassy in Baku, the foodstuffs
weighing 400 tons, pots and pans, and school supplies will be
distributed among the refugees, internally displaced persons,
needy citizens and shehids’ families.
Some 250 tons of similar humanitarian aid was delivered by the
Committee to Baku five months ago.
- GURBAN BAYRAM IN KHOJALY (AzerTAc)
[12.02.2003] On the occasion of the holy Gurban Bayram, members
of the Azerbaijan-Egypt friendship society together with officials
of the Embassy of Arabic Republic of Egypt to Azerbaijan have
met with Khojaly refugees.
Mrs. Jihan Emin Mohammadali, Ambassador of Egypt to Azerbaijan,
has congratulated the refugees taken asylum in Hojaly on the holiday.
Addressing the refugees Deputies of Milli Majlis, members of the
board of directors of Azerbaijan-Egypt friendship society, professor
Yagub Mahmudov and Elman Mammadov wished them to celebrate next
Gurban Bayram in their native lands.
Afterwards, sacrificial meat and packages of foodstuffs have distributed
among 150 families.
